Basic Rules
Blackjack is one of the easiest casino games to learn, yet it takes real strategy to fully master.
Game Objective
Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over (busting). You're not playing against other players — only against the dealer.
Card Values
Number cards (2–10) are worth their face value. Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points. An Ace is worth either 1 or 11, whichever is more favourable for your hand.
Hit
Request one additional card from the dealer to improve your hand value. You may hit as many times as you like as long as your hand total does not exceed 21.
Stand
Stop drawing cards and hold your current hand value. The dealer then reveals their cards and plays by fixed rules — typically required to hit until reaching 17 or above.
Double Down
Double your original bet after seeing your first two cards, but you will only receive one additional card. Most effective when your hand totals 9, 10, or 11.
Split
When you are dealt two cards of equal value, you can split them into two separate hands, each with the same bet. Best practice: always split a pair of Aces or a pair of 8s.
Insurance
When the dealer's up card is an Ace, you may purchase insurance worth half your original bet. If the dealer has Blackjack, insurance pays 2:1. Experts generally do not recommend this option.
